Though a famous English concert pianist won’t make it to Apple Valley as planned, Parade of Pianos will still present its scheduled concert Sunday.

The afternoon of classical music begins at 2 p.m. at the High Desert Center for Spiritual Living, featuring several local music students, as well as respected music teachers in the High Desert.

Tony James of the Trowbridge Symphony Orchestra in Wiltshire, England was scheduled to headline the concert but has taken ill and had to cancel, but Parade of Pianos founder Paul Starks wants to encourage patrons of the arts to still attend.

“Come to our event,” Starks said, “and spend a wonderful Sunday afternoon supporting youth in the High Desert.”

Starks promises the same level of excellence that has come to be the standard at their concerts. Proceeds from ticket sales support the Student Music Scholarship Fund that Parade of Pianos oversees. The scholarships are central to the organization’s mission of providing instruments, scholarships and piano tuning for gifted young music students.

The Center for Spiritual Living is at 18575 Corwin Road in Apple Valley. Tickets are available at the door for $10. For more information on the event or Parade of Pianos, call Starks at 760-961-0611.
