Annual awards dinner scheduled for March 8

From Staff Reports

The Apple Valley Optimist Club is gearing up for a March 8 awards dinner to toast Trish Hill, spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Apple Valley Station — followed by a roast of Assemblyman Tim Donnelly.

The awards dinner is the club’s primary source of funding for all Optimist events, according to Optimist Vicki Murray, while all funds the club raises go to help local youth.

The club sponsors many things annually, such as Scout Troop, a Cub Pack, two baseball teams, as well as scholarships made available through various events the club continually hosts. There are also events for kids such as Tri-Star basketball, Youth Appreciation Night, USO United Through Reading and the annual Easter Egg Hunt to name a few.

Happy hour starts at 5:30 p.m., followed by a sit-down prime rib and chicken dinner prepared by Las Brisas restaurant and served by scouts from Boy Scout Troop 257.

The festivities will take place at the Apple Valley Conference Center, 14955 Dale Evans Road. Tickets are $75. For reservations, call Murray at 760-954-6606.
