Lisa Lawrence, who serves on the Apple Valley Unified School District Board, was one of 22 women from the 8th Congressional District to be honored Friday by Rep. Paul Cook, R-Apple Valley, right, for service to their communities. Cook was joined in making presentations by San Bernardino County Supervisors Janice Rutherford and Robert Lovingood. The second annual event was hosted at the Town of Apple Valley Conference Center on Friday morning and drew honorees from throughout the Victor Valley and High Desert communities in the district. An intermission of choral music was provided by students of the Granite Hills High School Vocal Music Department, who applauded heartily when Apple Valley Unified School District volunteer Hall was honored.
