If you’ve seen the 1990 movie “Ghost,” starring Demi Moore and the late Patrick Swayze, it might have left you wondering if it really is possible to talk to the dead. Local resident and spiritual medium Beecham Parker believes so and has spent the past 12 years working as an intercessor between living beings and their deceased loved ones.

Both curious folks and skeptics are about to get an opportunity to test out Parker’s gifts first-hand. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 26, he will be offering private, 15-minute mediumship sessions for $35 to attendees of the Hi-Desert Center for Spiritual Living’s semi-annual Healthy Spirit Festival.

According to Parker, it will be a great opportunity to connect with a friend, family member or pet to hear whatever important messages they may want to share from beyond the grave.

“I am very passionate about what I do and I love walking this path of service,” said Parker, who recently relocated to Hesperia from Long Beach. “I want to help those in the physical and non-physical world connect so that healing can begin.

“My own spirit guide, whose name is White Feather, told me that grief is the healing salve we apply to the wound of loss. That is such a beautiful statement and so true. People need to allow themselves to grieve after losing a loved one and when the time is right, they should then explore contacting them through a medium to find closure and healing.”

Parker said although he had experiences in childhood where he literally could see dead relatives, he didn’t become fully aware of his abilities to communicate with them until 2000 when he was studying for his master’s degree in spiritual psychology at the University of California, Santa Monica.

While there, the Chapel Hill, North Carolina native began having puzzling experiences where specific information about deceased family members of his classmates was revealed to him.

“At first I didn't know what was happening to me and was concerned, so I prayed and asked Spirit to please help me understand,” said Parker. “One day while watching 'Crossing Over with John Edwards', I received the understanding that I had been seeking.

“So my next inquiry to Spirit was to show me why this was happening.”

Parker’s answer began to surface and he said he soon realized he had a call on his life to be of service to mankind as a spiritual medium. He started seeking ways to hone his medium skills and trained with renowned mediums such as Francesca Kimpton, Hollister Rand, Patricia Price, Reverend Lisa Lockhart, John Holland, James Van Praagh and Lisa Williams.

Parker went into private practice in 2003 in Long Beach and attracted clients from all over Southern California. He hopes his gifts will now be embraced by spiritual seekers in the High Desert.

“I say that I am a voice for the voiceless,” said Parker. “I gently, compassionately and sometimes humorously, deliver accurate, specific and meaningful messages from those who have passed on. Many people have experienced comfort, healing, understanding, resolution, acceptance and peace.

“To my knowledge, there are no other mediums who are practicing openly here in the High Desert, so I’m thrilled to be offering my services.”

Along with private sessions, Parker also holds public spirit circles and live demonstrations. Additionally, he teachers others how to develop their own medium abilities.

“I hold my service to Spirit in the highest regard,” said Parker. “And I am in constant awe of the messages those who have passed on bring. But it makes sense because we’re all energy, whether alive or deceased, and consciousness lives on.

“It seems like the two worlds are very far apart but I believe they overlap. Our loved ones are right here with us always.”
