AV Legacy Museum hosts Hoedown event

From Staff Reports

The Apple Valley Legacy Museum hosted a Hoedown on Thursday. The fun-filled evening included a narrated hayride, the Southwest Bluegrass Association student band ("SWBA Kids"), "Swing Your Partner" with Jim Brown, and a performance by the High Desert Jammers.

The museum, located at the old Bob Hope Cottage #153 at the Historic Apple Valley Inn, is a sister project to the Legacy Trail effort and sits right below the historic Hilltop House. It is a free, nonprofit museum through the High Desert Community Foundation and is staffed by volunteers seven days a week.

Hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. Many local citizens and organizations have loaned or donated collections of vintage postcards, news articles, photos, books, and collectibles including Terri Lee Dolls, Roy and Dale memorabilia, items from the fire department, library, dairy, ranches, movie star and celebrity visitors, and much more.

The museum is supported by the Town of Apple Valley, the Chamber, Happy Trails Children’s Foundation, the Rogers family, and many others.
